Hours are due every renewal period, completed within the 2 years before your license expires.

Cosmetologists: 14 hours

First renewal: profession-specific hours aren't required, but sexual harassment prevention is, and 1 hour of domestic violence and sexual assault awareness is required at the first renewal. Questions before you start

Does this course cover all my Illinois hours?

No. It covers 7 hours: 7 of the 13 subject hours for cosmetologists, or 7 of the 9 for estheticians and nail technicians. You also need 1 hour of sexual harassment prevention.

Is sexual harassment prevention included?

No. Illinois requires 1 hour of sexual harassment prevention training every renewal. It can come from your employer, the Illinois Department of Human Rights, or an authorized CE provider.
